JMLA’s Response to “An Open Call for JMLA and Medical Librarianship to Support Black Colleagues”
2021-02-22
As members of the Journal of the Medical Library Association (JMLA) editorial team (including editorial board members, section editors, assistant and associate editors, and editor-in-chief), we thank the authors and signers of "An Open Call for JMLA and Medical Librarianship to Support Black Colleagues” for bringing us their concerns and allowing us the opportunity to respond accordingly. As described in our response to this Open Call, we are thoroughly interrogating JMLA’s editorial processes and policies to identify and remove barriers to publishing in, reviewing for, or serving as editorial team members that stand in the way of colleagues who are Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC) or from other marginalized groups. We envision paths forward for addressing all of the concerns listed in the Open Call but also welcome your ideas, which you can send to the JMLA editor-in-chief or any member of the JMLA Equity Workgroup.
