JMLA Editor-in-Chief Transitions to New Role

2021-09-24

Please join us in thanking Katherine Akers, who is stepping down from the role of JMLA editor-in-chief to pursue a new career outside medical librarianship.

The JMLA Editorial Team thanks Katherine Akers for her 5 years of exemplary service to the journal. Achievements during her leadership included dramatically expanding JMLA’s pool of peer reviewers, instituting a data sharing policy, and launching an initiative to provide more equitable opportunities for authors, reviewers, and editorial board members.

Alexander J. Carroll, a JMLA associate editor, has been appointed the interim JMLA editor-in-chief by the MLA Board. Katherine will support Alex for several more months as a senior editor of JMLA.
